Get It Together! Organize Your Closet This Week

Style + Organization = Closet Chic
Most modern women have a secret fantasy. Our inner, Carrie Bradshaw, dreams of having an organized closet with high end designer clothing , shoes and handbags. Ask yourself this question. At this moment, does your closet look like an upscale trendy boutique or a dumping ground for the outfits you've worn this week? I can admit keeping my closet organized isn't my strong area. In my defense, I can blame it on time management, packing for travel and new purchases that don't make it out of recent shopping bags, blah, blah ,blah. At the end of the day, these excuses just don't cut it. I pledge to organize my closet once a week and donate all items I haven't worn in the last two years. Will you join me?

Closet Pledge:
I pledge to organize and design my closet by the end of this week.
I pledge to clean and organize my closet once a week.
I pledge to set a limit for purchasing out of season garments to avoid clutter.
I pledge to donate gently used garments to charity.
I pledge to take better care of my garments during the cleaning process.
I pledge to properly store my out of season garments.
I pledge to incorporate art to reflect my lifestyle, proper storage for jewelry and table for dressing.

Once you complete this task, you will be able to reach into your closet and find it easy to select your favorite outfit, professional wardrobe and athletic wear. A well organized closet will put you in a great mood to begin your work day or attend a swanky social affair.

To get started follow these simple guidelines for a well balanced closet to match your well balanced life.

  • Toss out items that are not being used (bags, boxes and etc.)
  • Keep the floor clean (sweep/vacuum)
  • Organize and separate your wardrobe (separate professional, athletic and social items)
  • Incorporate storage (hat boxes, organize shoes/boxes)
  • Upgrade or replace hangers, shelves, hooks and etc.(simplicity and consistency is the theme)
  • Add a table and chair to assist with dressing (according to space)
  • If you store your jewelry in your closet, invest in a jewelry cabinet/box.
  • Add a waste basket to assist with cleaning during the week.
  • Replace clothing to update your style.
  • Enjoy your new personal space.
